UGC NET Merit List 2022

The authority in the exam decides a qualifying percentage, the aspirants who are able to score marks in accordance with that qualifying percentage are the ones who find their names in the merit list, this qualifying percentage varies according to the category.

The qualifying percentage for different categories is as follows:

General category (both the papers)- 40%

OBC/PwD/SC/ST (both the papers)- 35%

This minimum qualifying percentage is needed to be achieved by the aspirants in both the papers, then only they will be considered for the selection.

UG NET 2022: Process of Selection

The process of selection in UG NET is on a merit basis, according to the rules set by the authority, only 6% of the total number of aspirants who participate in both the papers are considered for the qualification, and the merit list is released for the different categories and subjects.

UG NET 2022: Cut off

To make the selection process easier, the authority releases a certain amount of cut-off according to which the merit list is prepared. The cut-off is decided after taking many factors into consideration, as we have mentioned above there is a particular pass percentage for different categories for both exams so the category is one major factor.

The other factors that are considered for deciding the cut-off are-

  • The number of aspirants who showed up for the exams: As all the aspirants know only 6% of the aspirants who participated in the exams are considered for the selection, and the number of aspirants is directly proportional to the cut-off, i.e. more aspirants= more cut-off.
  • The difficulty of exams also plays a key part in deciding the cut-off.
  • The total number of vacancies has an inversely proportional relationship with the cut-off, i.e. more vacancies= fewer cut-off marks.
  • The cut-off trends of the previous year also vaguely influence the current year’s cut-off marks.
