About Chanda Kochhar Early Life, Career, Family
Chanda Kochhar was born in a Hindu, Sindhi family in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Kochhar’s father is Roopchand Advani who was a principal at the Institute of Technology. Kochhar’s mother’s name is not known yet but she was a homemaker. Chanda has completed her schooling at St. Angela Sophia School, Jaipur. Kochhar has lived her life happily and enjoyed her childhood as her family was quite rich. later on, her father died unexpectedly when she was just 13 years old.
After that Kochhar moved to Mumbai to live with her mother. There she persuades her higher degree and gold honours at the university in Mumbai. Chanda has acquired her bachelor’s degree in commerce from Jai Hind College. Chanda Kochhar Allegations
Chanda Kochar has allegedly favoured Videocon Group Leading techniques as the loans sanctioned by ICICI Bank to firms of the Videocon Group. Venugopal Dhoot business industrialist is the one who owns that company. Later on, he invests money in Chanda Kochhar’s husband’s company NUPower Renewable Pvt Ltd. He provides crores of rupees to NUPower Renewables Pvt Ltd. He get a loan of Rs.3,250 crores from ICICI Bank in 2012, and he transferred the sole leadership of the organisation to a trust owned by Deepak Kochhar.
It was Rs.9 lakh which he transferred 6 months after he received the loan from ICICI Bank. After that, the Videocon company account was declared as Non Performing Assets (NPS) in 2017 as per the report. Now the income department is also investigating the asset of the expensive family resident Chanda Kochhar residence.
Chanda Kochhar has also sanctioned a similar loan for Essar Group which was also classified as National Performing Assets (NPA). Later on, in 2019 January, 24th FIR has been filed against Chanda her husband Deepak and his partner Venugopal Dhoot business industrialists for cheating ICICI bank for a total of Rs.1,730 crore. The Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) team has charged them with punishable sections. The sections are, 120B for conspiracy, IPC Section 420 for cheating, Section 7 for taking gratification, 13(2) for criminal misconduct and section 13 (1) for pecuniary advantage of the prevention of corruption act.
After everything that happened to Kochhar, there are several complaints have been filed by the public to the Ministry of Finance. They demand to withdraw all the honourable awards given to Chanda Kochhar like the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shree awards by the Government of India. The ED has attached the properties of Chanda Kochhar and the family for the money laundering case on 10th January 2020. The total value of the attached asset was Rs.78 crore as per Enforcement Directorate (ED). In February a special PMLA bail has been granted to Kochhar, she has never been arrested in this case.
The draft change has been submitted by ED for the money laundering case against both husband and wife and other who was involved in this case in a special PMLA court. Chanda Kochhar has been issued with a temporary relief by the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) against the order issued by markets regulator SEBI on 14th June 2022. This is done by SAT for not supplying the requested documents to Kochhar, SAT has filed a new application for indicating the documents being sought for inspection.
